this is the future

I haven't shared a poem on here in years. I really got into more Bible study/devotional type posts that poetry got put on the back burner not just on the blog but in my life in general. Back in March, I decided to write a poem about how I was feeling and what God was teaching me through that, and this poem titled, "this is the future," was the result. I hope it blesses you.

"this is the future"

my mind says, "fear the future."

but You say, "Fear not."

my mind says, "the future is unknown."

but You say, "Behold, I come quickly."

this is the future.

it is known.

You are coming with the clouds.

this is the future.

every eye will see You.

this is the future.

You shall overcome them.

this is the future.

the devil will be cast

into the lake of fire & brimstone.

this is the future.

there will be a new heaven and a new earth.

this is the future.

You will wipe away all tears from our eyes.

this is the future.

You are coming quickly.

this is the future.

so, how could I fear the future?

when this is the future.

-Leslie Kandel

One day in March during my quiet time, I read Revelation 22:7 where it says, “Behold I come quickly,” and the thought that came to my mind was, “When you start to fear the future, remember that THIS is the future.” So often, my mind fixates on the unknowns and the what if’s of the future, and that was especially been the case back in the spring. But the truth is, there are some knowns about the future, and we find them in the Word of God. Jesus coming again and coming quickly IS the future.

I wrote this poem while having a really rough time when it comes to being anxious about the future. I pray that this poem encourages you to fix your eyes on eternity and the fact that although some of your future on this earth may be unknown, if you are a follower of Jesus, your eternity with Him is settled. Ultimately, you know your future, and it’s with Him.

If you don't have that assurance of your future being with Jesus, you can today. The Bible says, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans 10:13). If you believe in your heart that Jesus is who He says He is and that He died on the cross for your sin, was buried, and rose from the dead on the third day and will confess your sin to Him today, He will save you. Turn from your sin and turn towards Jesus. There is grace, mercy, and love waiting for you there. If you have made this decision, you can be absolutely certain that your future is spending eternity with Jesus in Heaven, and also, if you have made this decision, please contact me on Instagram (@lesliekandel7) or email me at lesliejessie20@gmail.com and let me know what God has done for you. I would love to celebrate with you and talk with you about it.

“Behold I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.” Revelation 22:7.
