My #1 Piece of Advice for College Students | 2 Corinthians 5:20

When I think back on my college experience, there are different moments that stand out: eating student union Chick-fil-A, writing a seemingly endless amount of papers, engaging in passionate class discussions about fairy tales, or dressing up in orange for the Saturday game inside of Neyland. These are all memories that I will forever cherish, but these are not the moments that stand out the most.

The moments that stand out the most to me now are the moments when I got to share Jesus, the moments when I got to tell of who Jesus is to me and how He changed my life. I only wish I could go back and share Him more.

In fact, my favorite memory of my entire college experience is when my roommate and best friend gave her life to Jesus. I got to watch God change her heart and life, and this year, we even got to record a podcast together on Godly friendships that you can listen to here.

All of this brings me to what the title of this post is all about, the #1 piece of advice I would give to college students: make telling the people around you about Christ your priority.

Success will fade, and eventually, the perfect caption for your Instagram post of you cheering on the Vols will not matter all that much. What will matter for all of eternity, however, is whether the people around you know Jesus or not.

You may not ever be around such a large amount of people who do not know Jesus AND are open to hearing about Him ever again. Make the most of your time! It is your calling and purpose as a follower of Jesus.

Paul said this in his second letter to the church in Corinth, "We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God" (2 Corinthians 5:20).

Live as Christ's ambassador to your campus! Implore the people around to be reconciled to God! Because of Jesus' death and resurrection, we can be reconciled to God, and everyone needs to know. You can be the one to tell the people in your classes and the people who live on the same floor as you.

I am glad that I worked hard in my classes and pursued excellence. I am glad that I made lifelong friendships. I am glad that I went to football games and ate far too much dining hall pizza. But, I am most thankful that I got to be Christ's ambassador, and my only regret is that I did not tell more people about Him.

Be wise with your time, and remember that the people around you need to know there is a God who loves them. And, you may be the only one to tell them.
