If you have not heard the big news yet, Isaac and I co-wrote a Biblical short film called, "Many are Called."
Now, if you have heard the news, please don't go! We are going to be answering some FAQ's about the film in this post, so stay tuned to get some of your questions answered.
"Many are Called" is centered around a very famous Bible story, but there is one catch: we are NOT going to tell you what Bible story it is until the end of the film.
Why Did Isaac and I Write This Film?
The main reason we wrote this film is that we are passionate about promoting Biblical literacy in any way that we can. We believe a key way that we can teach the Bible to people, especially our generation (Gen Z), is visually. We believe God can use our creativity to teach people more about His Word and help inspire them to read it.
We also are both passionate and have talents for being creative and telling stories. We brought both of our spiritual gifts and natural gifts together to write this film.
Why Should You Support the Film?
We believe you should support this film for quite a few reasons.
Do You Want to Share the Gospel?
We wrote "Many are Called" with the Great Commission in mind. We believe that God can use this film to show people His desire to save them and have a relationship with them. If you are looking for creative ways to share the Gospel with a family member, friend, or just the world around you, our film will help you do that!
Do You Have a Burden for the American Church?
Like us, you may have a burden to see Christians in America be more dedicated and go all in for Jesus and the Gospel. "Many are Called" is designed to be a reflective piece: we want our audience who are Christians to leave the movie feeling more convicted and challenged to follow Christ than ever before. If you want to help combat lukewarm Christianity and see the American Church step up, this film is for you.
Do You Want to See Quality and Accurate Content?
At Well Read, we are committed to creating quality, Christian content. "Many are Called" is no different. We did a lot of research when writing the script and sought feedback from others before finalizing our script. If the project gets funded, we are determined to make sure the same quality is present in the casting, costumes, set, music, and more.
I minored in Judaic Studies in college and took three years of Modern Hebrew. When writing this script, I was very committed to the Jewish roots being present in this story and represented accurately. You will find a commitment to historical and Biblical context in this film. Additionally, Isaac is an experienced filmmaker and is especially known for his ability to tell a story visually. With his visual storytelling skills and my writing ability, this film is bound to be a quality product.
Do You Want to See More Family-Friendly Content/Entertainment?
As most of us have noticed, family-friendly entertainment is becoming harder and harder to come by. It is especially hard to find entertainment that is based on Biblical concepts, values, and stories. "Many are Called" is a Biblical short film that is appropriate for all ages!
Do You Like a Fun Experience Watching a Movie?
Watching "Many are Called" will be a fun experience for the audience. We are NOT telling you the Bible story the film is centered around until the end of the film, so it will be a fun challenge for you as the audience to try to figure out what story it is based on before the big reveal at the end!
Do You Like History?
Even if you are not a Christian, "Many are Called" is still for you. If you like stories based on history, you will love "Many are Called." It provides historical context and shows you what these people from the Bible's lives potentially may have looked like based on what we know from historical and Biblical context.
How Can You Support the Film?
You can support "Many are Called" in a variety of ways.
If you feel led, you can back the project financially on Kickstarter. If you are unfamiliar with Kickstarter, Kickstarter is a platform for "crowd funding." Essentially, we present an idea to you, the public, and you decide if you want to see it made. There are tiers of giving, where depending on how much you give, you get a certain reward, so there is something in it for you, too (other than seeing the movie be made!).
Our Kickstarter goes live on Saturday, July 1st, and you can use this link (https://isaackandel.wixsite.com/portfolio/subscribe) to pre-save our Kickstarter and be one of the first people to back it. If you back the project within the first 24 hours of our Kickstarter, you will get an $80 value reward, regardless of how much you give, so you do NOT want to miss out on backing the project within the first 24 hours.
If we do not get the funding for the film, it cannot be made. Additionally, if we do not reach our goal, we do not get any money. That is why it is critical that we find backers.
If you cannot contribute financially, that is okay! You can also support "Many are Called" by sharing our Kickstarter when it goes live on Saturday on social media or with your friends and family. We need as many people as possible to see our Kickstarter. Please tell people about our Kickstarter and about the film! Any traffic we get to the Kickstarter helps us.
Lastly, the most important way that you can support us and this film is through prayer. Please partner with us in prayer that God will provide the funding for the movie, help us find the right cast, and empower us to tell this story in a way that honors Him. Pray that God will use this film to reach the lost with the Gospel of Jesus, and pray that God will use it to convict believers to go all in for Him and His Kingdom.
Whatever way that you are able to support the making of this film, we greatly appreciate it and are so grateful for your generosity.
Now, as you can see, we posted a blog this week rather than a teaching video as was scheduled. There is a big reason for that. Our week got a little busy because our niece Ellie Joanna Dixon was born! We are so grateful to God for this little miracle, and we plan to post our teaching video next week!
