Welcome to the third week of the Hebrew series! This week, we are talking about one of the first things I learned in Hebrew class that really impacted my walk with the Lord.
The Lord is omnipresent. He is everywhere at all times. That includes right there where you are right now. Yet, so often, we live our lives as if God is a million miles away. When in reality, He wants to be involved in every single aspect of our lives. In fact, He died and rose again so that we could have that close of a relationship with Him.
The word for "present" in Hebrew is הווה. No, I don't mean present as in like a gift but present as in the present time we are living in right now. God's Name in Hebrew (Yahweh or Jehovah) is יהוה. Notice the similarity: הווה & יהוה. They almost look like the same word. Just as it was no coincidence that Jesus' Name in Hebrew and the word for salvation in Hebrew look similar, there is no coincidence here either.
God is present. The Lord is present. Yahweh is present. He is so present that His Name essentially tells you He is present.
I know this is not an easy time for any of us. A lot of us feel isolated and alone. We wonder when and if there will ever be a light at the end of the tunnel. Well, I am here to encourage you that there already is a light at the end of the tunnel. Actually, there is light right here right now because God is here, now. God is present in this very moment.
If you are a follower of Jesus, the Holy Spirit lives within you. God literally lives within you. There is nowhere you can go that He doesn't go with you. David knew exactly what this meant when he penned these words, "Whither shall I go from Thy Spirit? or whither shall I flee from Thy presence?" (Psalm 139:7 KJV). You cannot flee from the presence and Spirit of God. He is everywhere.
It may be hard to see sometimes, especially in difficult times like this, but God is with you. Jesus paid the price for our sin so we could have relationship with Him. Because of His death and resurrection, we can come boldly to the throne of grace and rest in His presence.
Friend, you are loved, and you are never alone. Call out to Yahweh today, and I promise you He is listening. He is right there.
