He steps in

For a few years, I had a very specific prayer request. Some days, it felt like this prayer would never be answered, it felt like a lost cause.

It was even more frustrating because I did about everything that I could to try to make this prayer happen. After awhile, the Lord began to show me that I needed to stop, not stop praying but stop trying to make everything happen myself. I did not hold the power to make this happen, but He did.

I needed to stand still & trust the only One who could handle it, to handle it. I needed to leave it in His hands and not try to pick it back up. When I finally surrendered that prayer completely to the Lord, it was not too long after that when my prayer was indeed answered, and that prayer now continues to be answered in ways I didn’t even expect.

As I was thanking God a couple weeks ago for continuing to answer this prayer, I said, “Thank You that when I took a step back, You stepped in.”

When I was trying to make everything happen myself, I came up so short and felt frustrated and exhausted. Truly giving it over to God changed everything.

In our lives, how often do we try to take matters into our own hands? How often are we saying with our lips that we trust God to take care of a situation but then actually not trusting Him with it at all?

I say all of this to say, whatever you’re striving so desperately for and just can’t seem to make happen yourself, surrender that to the Lord. Whatever it may be, surrender it to the Lord. Take a step back and let Him step in.

That’s not to say we shouldn’t be diligent in serving the Lord (we can't be lazy), but it is to say that sometimes, the absolute best thing we can do is just stand still & watch God work. So, let’s all just do that today. Stand still, take a step back, and let God step in.

"Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth." Psalm 46:10 KJV
