Good Friday & Prophecy Fulfilled

It's Good Friday. The day when Jesus paid the ultimate price. The day when He died.

An Old Testament prophecy has been on my heart the last few days. A prophecy given by the prophet Isaiah. He was prophesying about the coming Messiah.

This prophecy is a great one to read and meditate on on Good Friday. Isaiah prophesied this many, many years before Jesus' life on earth. It is amazing how intentional God is and how He planned to send Jesus to save us from the start.

Today, I want to share with you some of this prophecy and then verses from the New Testament that show that Jesus fulfilled it. I encourage you to read all of them. Let it increase your faith.

Isaiah 53:3- "He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not."

We see this is true of Jesus in John 15:18- “If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.”

Isaiah 53:5- "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."

We see this is true of Jesus in 2 Corinthians 5:21- "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”

Isaiah 53:6- "All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all."

We see this is true in Romans 3:23- “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

We also see this is true in 1 John 2:2- “And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.”

Isaiah 53:7- "He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he opened not his mouth."

We see this is true of Jesus in Matthew 27:12- "And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing."

Isaiah 53:9- "And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth."

We see this is true of Jesus in Matthew 27:57-60- “When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus’ disciple: He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered. And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.”

Isaiah 53: 11- "He shall see the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities."

We see this is true of Jesus in Romans 5:1- “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ”

Isaiah 53:12- "Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors, and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors."

We see this is true of Jesus in Matthew 27:38- “Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left.”

We also see this is true of Jesus in Romans 8:34- “Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also make the intercession for us.”

These are only just a few verses from Isaiah 53, and I encourage you today to go read the entire chapter for yourself. If you know Jesus, I encourage you to mediate on it and worship Him today for what He's done. If you don't know Jesus, I encourage you to at the very least think about it.

I'll take it a step further and say if you don't know Jesus, I would encourage you to give your life to Him today. If you've read these verses and you want to be among the "many" that Jesus, the righteous servant, will "justify," the good news is you can!

Jesus did die for us as you saw in these verses, but he also rose from the dead on the third day. He was buried and then was resurrected! Jesus is alive today! He sits at the right hand of God.

The Bible tells in Romans 10:13, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." It also tells us in Romans 10:9, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."

If you will call on the Name of the Lord today, believe in His death, burial, and resurrection, and ask Him to forgive you of your sins and come into your life, He will. I promise, and even better, He has promised that. In a moment, you can pass from death to life. You can become an entirely new person. You can be born again.

If you have made this decision to start following Jesus, please contact me on Instagram, Facebook, or email (lesliejessie20@gmail.com). I would love to celebrate with you and talk with you about how you can grow even closer to Him on this journey you've entered with Him.

Happy Easter weekend everyone. Sunday is coming.
