Today is officially 2 days until Isaac and I get married, and I could not be more thrilled! It is surreal to think that this is my last post with my name actually being "L. Jessie." The next time you all hear from me, I will be, "L. Kandel." My heart is filled with anticipation to see what all God has in store for our marriage and life together.
I always wondered how it would feel to be this close to getting married. It was a feeling hard to imagine for a girl who spent a long time believing she may just end up being single forever.
I know now how it feels, and it is filled with a lot of feelings, putting it lightly. It's filled with excitement to start living life with the one you love. It's filled with worries of practical things, like where the money needed to pay bills will come from. It's filled with the weight of the realization of the seriousness of the covenant you are about to enter into in the presence of God. It's filled with awe and wonder of the goodness and faithfulness of God.
I have no idea what the next two days (or the rest of Isaac and I's life together) will hold, but I know the One who brought us together in the first place is the One who holds it all. And because of that, I am currently dancing in my room while typing this to some JB because I know the best is yet to come & that the Lord will be our portion forever.
During our engagement photoshoot, it started raining, pretty hard actually. We chose to go with it and dance in the rain together to our song playing out of an iPhone speaker, and our favorite photos from the sneak peak came from this moment. God used such a simple moment to remind me that some of the best moments He has for us come in the unexpected (and maybe even what you wouldn't have initially chosen for yourself). This has been my biggest take away through this entire wedding planning process: God can bring the most beautiful moments in the most unplanned, unexpected ways. I hope to take this lesson with me into my marriage here in two days.
My prayer is that Isaac and I's marriage will be picture to the world of Christ and His Church and that the world will see His love in the way we love each other. May God get all of the honor and glory from all that we do forever.
"Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing, but that it should be holy and without blemish." Ephesians 5:22-27 KJV.
