The Moments He Died For

Updated: Sep 24, 2020

Ever had a moment with God that was so real that it seemed like you could reach out and touch Him? A moment where His voice was so clear that you just knew it was Him? Well, I had one of these moments on Saturday night, and it sparked something up in me that I just cannot contain. I have to share it with as many people as possible.

As I sat on a balcony in Destin, Florida overlooking the ocean, I started my usual quiet time with the Lord. I prayed, did my daily devotional books, read the Word, and prayed some more. I really focused on Easter coming that morning and what Jesus did for me. I wanted to soak in everything God had to teach me during the Holy Week.

I sat in stillness for a little bit after all of my reading and praying, and then, I decided I was done & it was time to go in. Little did I know, my time with God that night had just begun. I felt like I should to listen to the live version of Reckless Love before I went inside, so I listened. I thought of His love and grace and just could not help but smile looking out on the beach. I realized how blessed I was to simply be able to come into His presence, and the tears built up. I prayed, "Dear Lord, thank You for the opportunity to just be able to come freely into Your presence. Thank You for loving me even though I am undeserving and just thank You for moments like this." Then, I had an amazing thought.

These are the moments He died for. Wow. That one sentence hit me like a ton of bricks. I had never thought of it that way before. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the King of kings, the Savior of the world, thought hanging out with Leslie Jessie on a balcony in Destin was worth giving up His own life. He died for relationship with us, so we would no longer be separated from Him. It is crazy and so humbling.

Jesus died for the moments He spends with all of you as well. He loves you so much. It is a love that we will never be able to fully comprehend. It is a love that is pure and perfect and sacrificial. He sacrificed Himself for you. He suffered unthinkable pain, and He has no regrets about it, not one. Just that one moment together on the balcony was worth it to Him, and the best part is that we get to spend forever with Him once we accept Him.

The moments that Jesus died for should be the moments that we live for. After this thought, I have a whole new outlook on what my purpose is, what all of our purposes are. It is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ: the best news ever. Everyone deserves to know how much they are loved and that they can have an eternity with the One who loves them if they just ask. If you have a question about God's love or how you can have a personal relationship with Him, please contact me because I would love to talk and pray with you! This is why I do what I do: to show the lost the way to being found.
